Dearly Deers,

A few weeks ago, maybe 10 years, my style back then was rather vintage/rockabilly. I shifted a tad to more jeans..
Being proud owner of a Collectif Swing Dress in black and white gingham patterned I felt like being the most epic looking person at this vineyard party. Not in the least bit, because back then, I did not really feel very secure to wear the style I like in public. I am not a small person, and to wear poofy things when you yourself are poofy, it used to make me feel rather insecure.
Used to, for even though I got bigger after surgeries for cancer, there was a time where I thought, and so what if I wear this and I look even bigger? The sun will still shine, or it will rain, either way there really is no difference any other than how others tell themselves how you should feel about yourself. it’s wicked !!
I drift off to say things I should listen myself to, so anyway, this party.
The celebration of a good year of grapes in the city of Dreischor which is celebrated with drinking wine, listening to local bands, having good food and by the time you shared your first bottle, everyone gets friendlier, including yourself!
Surely you get the idea. One of the little times where its very very very normal, even sort of expected, to walk around with your bottle of wine, of course rather pricey as la di da. But hey, it was uber nice to be there and enjoy the local bands, the amazing atmosphere and just enjoy life.
That is one of the last times I wore that gingham swing dress. Had a black petticoat underneath, black cardigan and a black ribbon around my waist.
Little side note to this, I own quite a few retro flower dresses, polka dots, several “childish” prints, such as the Care Bears, My Little Pony… but gingham?
Nope, not a single one anymore. I did look for them at my go to brands, but I suppose gingham isn’t trending or something, I don’t know.

Logging on to second life, unpacking this box full of surprises, I was made happy with this super great epic mini surprise. For, of course, partially having retro pieces, The Annex apparently had in their thoughts, why not a nice summer dress for Kawaii in gingham??
The dress itself is to me is a tad more eighties, maybe early nineties but come on, it is in gingham!!!
She is called Soleil Dress and I think its a very fitting name.
In my part of the country, I can imagine wearing this daily if it’d be cotton, for goshness it’s hot! The dress is too, and did I say its in gingham? …yeah yeah Em, we know you love your gingham, zip it!!

For obvious memories I picked the black version to showcase.
